In July 2009 I was performing in Chicago at Fred Anderson's Velvet Lounge in a trio with bassist Tatsu Aoki and drummer Avreeayl Ra.
Mr. Anderson was there. After the gig Fred asked if I would come back to the Velvet Lounge and do a quartet concert with him. I gladly agreed(!) and this album from March 2010 is that concert.
Sadly, this is Mr. Anderson's last live recording - Fred Anderson died on June 24, 2010. Let me join the global jazz community and the city of Chicago in paying homage to
Fred Anderson for doing so much good for so many. Thank you, Fred.
